The existence of a hardy and old-established breed of sheepdog hardly more than a foot high may sound. surprising. It serves to remind us, however, that our sheep have grown during the last two hundred years to be very much larger than they previously were, and no doubt dogs were in proportion. In the Shetlands, the sheep are still very small, and they are managed by these excellent miniature Collies, which is what they really are.
