The appearance and origin of these dogs is as distinctive as their name. They come from Tibet, a land which is famed for its various breeds of dogs, two further examples being seen on Nos. 15 and 30 of this series. The abundance of hair protects them from intense winter cold of their lofty country, and in summer it is asserted that the natives shear off the hair and weave it into cloth.
