The Lakeland Terrier originally known as the Old English Terrier, is slightly shorter in body and head than the Welsh Terrier, of which it is the English equivalent. With its attractive black and tan colouring it looks very much like a pocket edition of the Airedale. Less than twenty years ago the Lakeland Terrier Association was formed to popularise and protect the interests of the breed, which is gradually gaining a strong following. In common with all other Terrier types it is lively, alert and a fine companion.
