Field Spaniel 1 : Field Spaniel 2

Field Spaniels have little chance at Field Trials in competition with their longer legged cousins, but breeders have recently been successful in evolving a more rationally built specimen than the old long and low type, and a new era of popularity is probable for this much maligned but really beautiful example of the Spaniel family. The old Field Spaniels were very long and very low - the longer they were the more highly they were valued, but breeders have successfully evolved a more rationally built dog, higher on the leg and shorter in body, and better able to carry out his natural avocation in the field. The beautifully formed head is characteristic of the breed. The coat is soft, thick, glossy and silky. Colours: black, liver, golden liver, mahogany red, red roan, blue roan and black and tan, with tan over the eyes, on the cheeks, feet and pasterns.
Height: 14 in.
Weight 45-55 lb.
