1936

The Elkhound, a very old breed, originally came from Norway and is a hardy animal. As its name implies, it was used primarily to hunt the elk. It is fearless and its eyesight is remarkable, while its powers of scent are very highly developed. It has a heavy coat, like other breeds which originated in the cold regions, but is, nevertheless, tireless. An attractive animal whose colour ranges from silvery white to dark grey, it has been popular in England for many years, but it is far from common.
