Almost all breeds of dogs have been evolved for a purpose, and are often very local in origin. Australia possesses characteristic varieties of Sheepdog and Terrier. The latter which we illustrate here was evolved by experiment from several cross-breedings. It will be seen from our picture that his coat is rather long for a small dog, and he may have blue, silver, grey and a rich tan on the different parts of him.
